    Participants will be able to:

    • Read and discuss clinical information about Schizophrenia

    • Make interpretations about film through reflection and discussion

    • Make inferences about and develop empathy for relationships in which there is a chronic mental health condition

    "Love and Serious Mental Illness" centers on an experimental film that tells the story of a person who is in love with someone living with schizophrenia. The prompts allow students to unpack the film together and consider what it means to love another person whose very experience of reality is subject to change.

    Note: This class includes supplementary materials that can be completed at the start of class or assigned as homework. If assigned as homework, the class duration may be approximately 15 minutes shorter.
